About This Project
Product Choosen
I have choosen the Zolo app for this assignment. It is a PG/hostel/room booking app.
Define
- More often than not, people dislike roommates. But housing costs are rising, student loans are unlikely to vanish soon and marrying ages are trending older. In this case, young adults have decided living with roommates is the way to go amd doubled-up households have never been more popular.
- So I had decided to upgrade the app with a new feature—Roommate finder. Apps like these assign random roommates to people choosing to living in co-habilitation that discourages many users to use these services.
- The benefits of having roommates are clearly outweighing the frustrations. But can’t something be done to make living with others a less painful and more positive experience? A product that can improve the lifestyle of people in shared households?
My Process
I have followed the design thinking process throughout this project.

Research
The Web I then scoured the internet for articles about the rise in young adults living with roommates. I discovered:
- College students are not the only ones living with roommates. Many people living in shared households are older than twenty-two and trying to offset financial burdens.
- Some people choose to live with roommates for companionship. This comes with complex social dynamics.
- There are a few products on the market trying to ease the pains of sharing a home, but nothing has a complete solution.
Inspiration
Dating Apps I took my inspiration from the dating app Bumble, as they have many similarity to a roommate finding app. That is search – match – connect. I tailored the same pattern to my product needs.
